REQUOTE from my livejournal: "I AM DONE. whewwwwwwwwwwwww~~~~ i finished it this morning, around 2 am. LOLOL. i am terrible to my body. i will definitely try to sleep earlier now. I am very satisfied with the result. there might be some details i want to work on but i think i'll just leave it as it is. My challenge was trying not to let the colors clash too much. i wanted them to blend and bring the piece together. i think i like pokota and xellos the best. i don't know why but they just kinda stand out (i'll put wallpapers featuring the two ;D) enough whining! to the actual work! (click for full-size. beware, it's huge)
this was a lot of work. so many layers and so many details! some of it was done spontaneouly, like the fireflies and the green herb wall design. i like how i colored zel/mad hatter *o*. i love lina's little crown. it's just sitting up there, being gold and shiny. i feel bad that i didn't draw gourry big enough i didn't intend to make him so small, but i think i ran out of room for him. the floor tiles came out rather weird. first they bulge up then down, then up again. next, i was debating whether to make it red/black or red/white tiles. i ended up with red/yellow tiles cos they matched rather nicely. i didn't want blue or green cos amelia was blue and pokota was green,
now i want to do more fairy tale related fanarts! ^o^"
just for fun, i'm going to list down which character plays who: Lina as Queen of Hearts Gourry as Card Soldier Zelgadis as Mad Hatter Amelia as Alice Pocota as White Rabbit Xellos as Chesire CAt
thanks for dropping by!

I have to this, of course. I've seen other fanworks by you, but not being familiarized with the series, doesn't help to r recognize them. Now, the critizism... First, you can recognize a ZA fan just taking a light look to this pic: Amelia is Alice! Even in that crazy TRY episodie, Lina was Alice, and certainly Amelia hardly gets enough recognition for that... but we, ZA fans, are able to put Amelia in a main role. I also am surprised Pokota is the White Rabbit; I thought it would be Zel since Alice spends mostly of the story chasing the rabbit, but Pokota is a unexpected and nice change: he fits the rabbit role far better. Same thing with Lina being the Queen of Hearts; her crazy attitude would be better for Martina, but being Lina that crazy and proud character, is a nice and twisted idea Xelloss as the Chessire cat is just Neat: who else could fit that role? And Gourry being one of the heart cards also is fine, although his role isn't as representative as the rest. But Zel being the Mad Hatter? Is there any conexion for that?
What I mean to say is your ellection of roles in Slayers gang is just unusual. I also am planing with drawing a "Alice in Wonderland" pic with another fandom and I'm having a hard time choising the roles. I don't remember seeing another pic-idea like this about Slayers, but certainly your character choising is original.
The pic has a great composition, with many different planes, but the main focus is obvious, ZA. I also am surprised about the colouring you choice: Green and Red, which I guess you know already, is a hard mix becuase they're oposite colors but have the same tone level. You did a good job mixing them, although I don't get why Pokota is actually green instead having some white spots, he has almost the same color than Zel's clothes. Speaking of which, I understand your choice of Green colors, but why such mix? And why on Zel's clothes?
Finally is Xelloss figure. You have an interesting point and it's you tend to make noises small, which is rare because mostly of the artist tend to make noises big... It fits Lina and the female gang, but on this pic, Xelloss' is too small and he barely seems to have a noise. He looks cute with those ears, though, and certainly he fits the false idea of "I'm a nice guy". But what surprises me the most is your choicing of colors:violet and purple for the cat and the night background. There is a huge difference in colouring between left side and right side.
Overall it's a goo pic; it just have some random "I don't get this" here and there, but me likes a lot.
